Japan, 1988/1989 (four weeks): Together with Dr. Linda Fujie: Documentation of the Gion Festival in Kyoto. Kabuki sound documentation made in Tokyo.

Maine (USA); 1988/89 (five weeks): Together with Dr. Linda Fujie: Cooperative project with Colby College (Waterville, ME): Traditional music in Maine—hymns and gospels of the Shaker community; yodeling cowboy music; country music; Passamoquoddy and Penobscot Indians; Irish Music; French-Canadian Music; Bluegrass Bands; Armenian and Turkish Music.

Brazil, 1987/88/89 (11 weeks): Together with Dr. Pinto in cooperation with the University of São Paulo (Setor de Etnomusicologia). Topics: urban music; songs of the Xikrín, Amazon region); Bahia: viola caipira; candomblé; carnival of Recife.

Argentina, 1991 (3 weeks): Cooperative projekt with the Fundación Norte (Salta). Documenation of bagualas und songs of the Chorotes (Chaco).

Japan, 1998 (5 weeks): together with my wife Dr. Linda Fujie. Documentation of shakuhachi, shomyo, shamisen, taiko-drums, sake songs, itako.
